ECO-SO2 Commercial Installations

Powerspan has operated the 50-MW ECO unit at FirstEnergy's R.E. Burger Plant as an advanced ammonia scrubber. In this mode, the NOx removal component is not operated, and the lower and upper loop liquid streams are combined and mixed so as to provide common chemistry from the lower and upper sections. This arrangement corresponds to the arrangement shown in the Process Flow Diagram in the ECO-SO2 overview.
