Conference and Exhibition from December 10 through 12, 2002. Power-Gen,
sponsored in part by Power Engineering magazine, featured
over 1,100 exhibiting companies from the power industry. The event
was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

National
Coal Council, Annual Fall Meeting On November 21, 2002, Chairman
and CEO Frank Alix participated in a panel discussion on mercury
emission controls at the National Coal Council's Fall meeting in
Washington, D.C. The panel included executives from FirstEnergy,
the National Energy Technology Laboratory, GE International, and
ADA Technologies. The National Coal Council is a federal advisory
committee to the Secretary of Energy.
Third
Annual Power Generation Conference Powerspan's CEO, Frank Alix,
delivered a presentation on October 17, 2002, at the Electric Power
Generation Association's (EPGA) annual conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
EPGA is a regional trade association of electric generating companies,
including Allegheny Energy Supply, Exelon Generation, FirstEnergy
Corp., Midwest Generation, PPL Generation, and Reliant Energy. Frank
gave an update on ECO (Electro-Catalytic Oxidation) technology.
The
International Conference on Air Quality III On Sept. 12, 2002, Dr. Christopher
McLarnon, Powerspan's Director of Research & Development, presented
a paper entitled, "Mercury Removal in a Multi-Pollutant Control
Technology for Utility Boilers at the Air Quality III Conference
in Arlington, VA. This conference focused on mercury, trace elements
and particulate matter, and provided an opportunity for government
and industry experts to discuss topics related to the regulation,
transport, measurement, and control of air emissions. Click on logo

Testimony
Before the Ohio House Energy Policy Committee Powerspan's President and COO,
Phil Boyle, testified before the Ohio House Energy Policy Committee
on August 13, 2002. The hearing consisted of two panels of eleven
government and industry speakers who discussed the development and
commercialization of clean-coal technology and the uses of coal
byproducts. Phil spoke about the history of ECO (Electro-Catalytic
Oxidation) technology and the cooperation of various stakeholders

Coal-Gen
Conference and Exhibition Powerspan's CEO, Frank Alix,
was a presenter in a workshop at the Coal-Gen conference on Wednesday,
July 31. The workshop, "Better Multi-Pollutant Control Strategies,"
addressed ways to optimize removal of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide,
mercury, and air toxics produced during coal combustion. The four-hour
workshop featured presentations by industry experts followed by
interactive debate. Coal-Gen was held in St. Louis from July 31
to August 2, 2002, at the America's Center.
Electric
Power 2002 Conference and Exhibition Powerspan exhibited at Electric
Power 2002 Conference and Exhibition at the America's Center in
St. Louis from March 19 to 21, 2002. The 20x20 exhibit booth featured
information on ECO technology, including recent test results
from the ECO pilot unit. At the conference, Dr. Christopher McLarnon,
Director of Research and Development, presented an update on ECO
technology for a session on Emerging Multi-Pollutant Control Technologies.
Senate Subcommittee Hearing
on Clean Power Legislation

On January 29, Frank Alix
testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Clean Air, Wetlands
and Climate Control. The subcommittee, chaired by Senator Joseph
Lieberman, is a part of the Senate's Environment and Public Works
Committee. Frank testified about the ECO process and the role
technology can play in developing legislation. Other invited speakers
included representatives from ADA Environmental Solutions, Hamon
Research-Cottrell, and the Electric Power Research Institute. Sen.
Bob Smith (R-NH), a member of the EPW Committee, met with Frank

Presentation
at the Mercury Emissions Workshop of the 43rd FOMIS Conference,
sponsored by Scientech Frank
Alix, Powerspan Chairman and CEO, spoke at a workshop on mercury
emissions control at the FOMIS conference in Clearwater, Florida,
on January 21. Frank made a presentation on the mercury removal
capabilities of ECO technology, and joined a panel discussion
on the mercury control issues facing power generators. Other presenters
included representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy, Southern
Company, Wisconsin Electric Power, ADA Environmental Solutions,
and Babcock & Wilcox.
