Discussion on Mercury and Utilities: Current Control Technologies
and Multi-Pollutant Strategies
On
July 31, Chairman and CEO Frank Alix participated in a forum sponsored
by the Northeast Midwest Institute, a nonpartisan regional policy
group, and ECOS, the national association
of state environmental commissioners. Frank, along with Dale Kanary
of FirstEnergy Corp., discussed ECO technology and its mercury-removal
capabilities.
Meeting with Department
of Energy Secretary, Spencer Abraham
On June 25, Cambridge Energy Research Associates
(CERA) hosted a round table breakfast and press conference with
Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham and Boston-area energy technology
companies, including Powerspan. Chairman and CEO Frank Alix spoke
with Abraham at the Powerspan display. Alix thanked him for the
DOE funding and explained ECO technology.
N.H. High Technology
Council Honors Powerspan Board Member Morton E. Goulder
The New Hampshire High
Technology Council honored Morton E. Goulder with a Lifetime Achievement
Award at a banquet on June 11. Keynote speaker was Dean Kamen. Both
Kamen and Goulder are members of Powerspan's Board of Directors.
Powerspan's chairman and CEO, Frank Alix, introduced Kamen.

Senate Field
Hearing—Testimony before Senator Bob Smith
Powerspan's chairman and CEO Frank Alix was invited to testify before
U.S. Senator Bob Smith (R-NH) in a Senate Field Hearing on innovative
environmental and energy technologies on May 30, 2001. Alix presented
information on Electro-Catalytic OxidationTM technology
and expressed Powerspan's perspective on how innovative technology
and national energy policy, including multi-pollutant legislation,
could benefit the power industry, the environment, and public health.
