| What We Do
Powerspan develops and commercializes proprietary, multi-pollutant control technology for electric power plants. The Company's patented Electro-Catalytic Oxidation (ECO®) technology provides high removal of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), mercury (Hg), and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from the flue gas of coal-fired power plants. The process also produces a valuable fertilizer co-product, minimizing landfill disposal of waste.
For more information about ECO® and ECO-SO2 (for high removal of SO2, oxidized mercury, and PM2.5), visit the ECO and ECO-SO2 technology pages. To learn about our development and testing efforts in the area of CO2 capture for existing and new coal-fired power plants, please visit our ECO2 technology page.

Powerspan Testifies at Hearing of U.S. Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources
On August 1, 2007, Powerspan CEO Frank Alix testified before the Senate Energy committee at a hearing regarding Recent Advances in Clean Coal Technology. In addition to providing an update of Powerspan's CO2 capture process, his testimony included recommendations for incentives that would expedite large scale CO2 capture and sequestration projects. A recent MIT study entitled, "The Future of Coal: Options for a Carbon-Constrained World," placed a high priority on the commercial demonstration of CO2 capture from several alternative coal combustion and conversion technologies, as well as CO2 sequestration at a scale of 1 million tons per year. A copy of Alix's testimony can be found here: Senate Energy committee testimony.
