Mechanical Engineer I

The Mechanical Engineer I is based in our Portsmouth, NH facility and is responsible for the designing and troubleshooting of fluid and gas-handling systems and mechanical components and systems.  This includes sizing and specifying equipment, computer modeling (CAD, CFD analysis/review), and repair of equipment.  The primary focus of the Mechanical Engineer will be commercial mechanical project engineering tasks, however, design oriented tasks may be required from time to time.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform technical review of commercial design documents to ensure accurate technical content in accordance with industry standards.  These documents include, but are not limited to, piping drawings, erection and fabrication drawings, and construction work packages.  The majority of these documents are associated with commercial installation at industrial sites. 
  • Design and troubleshooting of various types of mechanical systems, including structural, fluid (gas and liquid), thermal and mechanical systems.  Familiarity with equipment and systems that operate at elevated temperatures/pressures is a plus.
  • Direct and/or perform troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning systems and components, including large commercial air pollution control equipment.
  • Develop specifications and participate in procurement of material and large commercial equipment.
  • Prepare drawings, reports, and manuals in a professional form suitable for archiving documentation purposes and for distribution to customers.
  • Prepare and deliver training to both engineers and other personnel in the Company.
  • Interact with Engineering personnel at vendor and customer sites.

Required Background:

  • Familiarity with and the ability to use modern computer based design and simulation software to perform detailed analysis of structures and systems. 
  • 0-3 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Knowledgeable of fluid distribution, (liquid and gas).
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% (may include overnight stays).
