Chemical Process Engineer
We are currently looking for a Chemical Process Engineer based in our Portsmouth, NH offices. The Chemical Process Engineer would be responsible for developing and maintaining simulation models of our proprietary pollution control technology. These models are used for both preliminary and detailed engineering of our patented ECO and ECO2 technologies to meet each customer’s specific process needs. This individual would also work with the marketing and applications group in preparing commercial proposals, as needed. This position reports to the Lead Process Engineer. Some occasional travel may be required.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and periodically update process models in Aspen Plus simulation software.
- Customize process models to meet specific customer requirements from preliminary design through detailed engineering.
- Work with Research & Development group to incorporate laboratory physical properties data and pilot plant results into Aspen Plus process models.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economical analyses for both internal use and presentations to potential customers.
- Maintain a database of capital equipment costs and operating expenses associated with Powerspan processes.
- Perform literature searches as required to update model assumptions and identify technology to support project needs.
- Review process design documents and assist other engineering disciplines in development of practical and cost-effective process solutions.
Required Background:
- Degree in chemical engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of experience modeling chemical processes using Aspen Plus, including models using customized physical properties databases.
- Experience estimating capital and operating costs for power production or industrial chemical processes.
Preferred experience:
- Understanding of coal-fired electric power production processes and the associated pollution control equipment.
- Operations or maintenance experience from the chemical, pulp & paper or power production industries.
- Use of OLI Stream Analyzer or other software for predicting the VLE behavior of aqueous systems.
