Employee
Volunteers Powerspan
encourages employees to volunteer their time and talents in the community at health-care, educational,
environmental, civic and cultural organizations. Full-time employees are given
eight hours of paid volunteer time per calendar year.
Each year, a group of Powerspan volunteers participates in the United Way Day of Caring, helping various United Way agencies with projects ranging from painting picnic tables and creating walking paths to counting ducks (not as easy as it sounds). For our Spring 2006 Day of Caring project, four Powerspan employees spent the day at the Rochester Opera House. After an interesting behind-the-scenes tour of the 1908 landmark, the Powerspan team went to work emptying, sorting and reorganizing the wardrobe room, home to hundreds of costumes and props.
United Way Day of Caring 2005 East Rochester Elementary School September 14, 2005
In 2005, Powerspan employees created a walking path for the East Rochester Elementary School. They dug, raked and mulched a 1/4 mile path that students were thrilled to try out.
United Way Day of Caring2004 Special Olympics September 15, 2004
Powerspan employees helped the Special Olympics "get all their ducks in a row" in September of 2004. A hearty team of five braved the hot sun to help clean and organize two storage units and to sort and count 12,000 rubber ducks (used for the Special Olympics annual duck race).
